Canada produces some exceptional young riders, yet, there is no systematic, national development pathway to get large numbers of kids involved in the cycling. In response, BTG created a youth cycling grant program to seed and develop youth cycling clubs, events or programs across Canada.

BTG Youth Cycling grants are for Canadian youth endurance cycling programs dedicated to growing the sport of bike racing. Clubs, programs or events applying to this grant are intending to grow to be financially self-sustaining and follow the principles of Cycling Canada’s Long-term Athlete Development plan.  BTG emphasizes developing multi-discipline endurance bike racers.  Successful applicants strive to use their surrounding community for support of amateur sport. Coaching grants are intended to “Bridge the Gap” between the time a program commits to a sustainable model and the time they achieve their model (two-year limit).

BTG’s preference is for these grants to be used to hire coaches or develop coaches. Grants are intended to “Bridge the Gap” between the time a program commits to a sustainable model and the time it’s achieved (two-year limit). BTG considers funding junior programs, if the program also includes early stage kids and has a well-designed program flow into junior and subsequently U23 activity.
